Luton’s nomination as referee puts the Premier League at risk of Nottingham Forest’s fury once more.

Premier League risk wrath of Nottingham Forest again with Luton referee appointment

The Premier League may be headed for another clash with Nottingham Forest, as this weekend’s match between relegation rivals Luton and Nottingham County fan David Coote will serve as the referee.

The premier league team was incensed over the weekend after arguing they were not awarded three penalties in their loss to Everton.Following the match, Forest released a furious statement criticizing the choice to assign Luton supporter Stuart Attwell to monitor VAR.

The FA and Premier League are both looking into the remarks. Forest, however, has persisted in its protests against referee choices and has made a demand for the VAR tape from their loss at Goodison Park.

With the most recent round of Premier League appointments, Forest’s ire may intensify. David Coote will be in charge of this weekend’s match between Luton and Wolves, who are both in the relegation zone and one point behind Forest with four games remaining.

Coote’s passion for Notts County has already been established. He has never reffed a match between the Magpies and Forest, their cross-town rivals. Any choice he makes in his most recent game could be crucial to the Premier League’s relegation struggle. With four games left in the campaign, Forest is one point above the drop zone.

In other news, the East Midlands team had previously been informed of the referee for their forthcoming match versus Manchester City. This weekend, Simon Hooper will play the role of the go-between.

Since Forest’s 3-1 loss to Tottenham earlier this month, this is the first time he has officiated a Forest game. James Maddison, the former Leicester star, should have been substituted off the field that day for what the Reds saw as a punch, but he remained there.

“It’s a red card,” Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo declared following the match. It surprised me that Maddison wasn’t dismissed by VAR. Maddison lost control and gave [Ryan] Yates a stomach blow. Clearly, what they saw and what we observed are different. If I wasn’t absolutely certain, I wouldn’t say anything.”

The two games that followed ended in defeat for Forest. They drew 2-2 with Wolves to bounce back after their loss to Spurs, but ultimately lost 2-0 against Everton.
