Arsenal Prepare to Offload Three Flops as January Transfer Window Approaches
Arsenal are reportedly making plans to offload three underperforming players as the January transfer window looms. With Mikel Arteta’s squad evolving and the club pushing for a Premier League title challenge, the Gunners are keen to streamline their team and move on players who have failed to make a significant impact.
1. Nicolas Pépé
The £72 million winger, signed from Lille in 2019, has struggled to live up to his price tag. Pépé showed glimpses of his talent but has rarely been consistent enough to secure a regular starting spot under Arteta. With Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli thriving on the wings, Pépé has found himself pushed further down the pecking order. Arsenal may look to offload him permanently, or potentially secure another loan deal, following his recent loan stint at OGC Nice.
2. Kieran Tierney
The Scottish full-back, once a key player for the Gunners, has seen his role diminished following the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko. Despite his impressive attacking attributes, Tierney has struggled to fit into Arteta’s tactical setup. With Zinchenko firmly established as the first-choice left-back, Tierney may seek a move away in search of regular football, and Arsenal could be open to cashing in on him in January.
3. Jorginho
The Italian midfielder, signed from Chelsea in the summer of 2023, has not made the desired impact at the Emirates. While Jorginho offers experience, his lack of pace and defensive limitations have seen him fall behind in the pecking order. Arsenal may look to offload him in January if the right offer comes in, as Arteta continues to refine his midfield options.
Arsenal are expected to be active in the winter window, offloading these players to make room for potential new arrivals.
