The boss responded to a Rangers question and provided a transfer hint for Celtic fans to chew over.
Brendan Rodgers has dropped a Celtic transfer calling card in his latest press conference – and responded directly to a Rangers question.
The Premiership champions are in Croatia to face Dinamo Zagreb as part of their Champions League campaign. Then attentions turn to Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup final with Rangers at Hampden.
Rodgers has held his pre-match press conference in Zagreb and when talking up the quality of his squad, he sent a hint that yet more quality could be about to be injected into this team, with January’s transfer window looming. He said: “I think you can see from probably how I’ve been
“The last time we played on a Saturday and played on a Tuesday night, we played RB Leipzig and we were brilliant on that evening. It was based around the players and what they give and the physicality that we can bring at this level plus the changes that we can make. I think it’ll be the same tomorrow night (Tuesday). We have a squad that I feel that I can pick any team and the quality is there.
“The cohesion is there, and the structure is there likewise if tomorrow night we need to make changes within the game, I know that I can bring players in and keep that intensity and keep the quality. I think we’re in a good place. We’ll always look to improve the squad as the windows go on but where we sit currently, I believe we’re in a good place.”
Celtic’s manager was then asked if Sunday’s game vs Rangers was more ‘important.’ He responded: “Oh, every game. Every single game is so important as a Celtic player and manager and that’s why and what we prepare for every single day. So we haven’t even thought about the Rangers game yet.
“No, we were very much focused on our game at the weekend. Straight away after that game we now really focus on this game because one thing that you can make the mistake of in football is that you can think of more than one thing and for me, I’m really focused and intensely on this game.
