The72’s writers share their Coventry City vs QPR prediction ahead of their Championship fixture on Saturday afternoon.
Coventry City head into this clash against QPR with nothing to play for, with their FA Cup semi-final defeat on penalties against Manchester United seemingly taking the stuffing out of them.
The Sky Blues have lost twice and drawn once since their cup demise, so all that is left for Mark Robins’ team to try and achieve now is a positive showing on the last day.
They can finish in 8th with a win and if Middlesbrough drop points, but if results go against them then a dip as low as 12th is feasible for the 9th-placed club.
QPR also enter into this encounter with little to play for having now clinched their safety. Marti Cifuentes’ men have won their past two outings without conceding a goal.
Their previous encounter in particular was a brilliant showing against Leeds United, smashing the promotion prospects 4-0 at Loftus Road to mathematically ensure their safety in stunning way.
The turnaround achieved by Cifuentes has been extraordinary and ahead of next season, there should be optimism under his direction
“I’ve got a feeling QPR are going to be a problem next season. They might not be fighting it out towards the top end of the Championship table, but they’re going to give a lot of teams difficulties with Cifuentes at the helm.
“Coventry City meanwhile, I think they’ll be better for this season. Perhaps more was expected after their summer additions but eventually, they should finish in the top half and after a wonderful cup run, some fantastic memories have been produced.
“The end of the season has been tough for the hosts though and QPR in form, I don’t see Coventry ending on a high.
