Midfielder Nicolas Dominguez has undergone surgery and will miss Nottingham Forest’s final game of the season. The Argentine player had a hernia operation due to an ongoing abdominal issue that has troubled him for the past couple of months. Consequently, he will be absent from Sunday’s trip to Burnley as the Reds aim to conclude the season on a high note.

Defender Neco Williams will also be unavailable for the visitors at Turf Moor. He has missed the last two games after sustaining a thigh injury in last month’s defeat to Manchester City.

“Unfortunately, he is not going to be available. It is disappointing,” said Nuno regarding the Welshman.

He continued, “Nicolas Dominguez also won’t be available. We decided to address some issues he has been dealing with towards the end of the season. He had surgery and will miss the game. There are a few others out, but we’ll keep those details quiet for now.”

On Dominguez, Nuno added, “He was in a lot of pain and unable to exert full strength. He has been struggling significantly for the past two months. We tried to manage his condition as best as we could, but surgery was the only solution. We expect him to recover within a week, hopefully allowing him to start the next season in a better condition. For now, it’s important for him to rest and take care of himself.”

Forest faces the Clarets with Premier League safety almost assured. They are three points ahead of 18th-placed Luton Town and have a much better goal difference.

With Williams injured, Gonzalo Montiel is expected to continue at right-back. Dominguez made an appearance off the bench in last weekend’s 3-2 defeat to Chelsea, with his last start for the club occurring against Everton last month.
