Sheffield Wednesday is considering a former Arsenal and Liverpool youth prospect for a potential summer transfer, according to The Star.
After securing their place in the Championship in dramatic fashion, the Owls are gearing up for a busy summer of transfers. With manager Danny Röhl extending his contract, the focus has shifted to bringing in new players before the start of pre-season. Röhl has expressed a desire to finalize signings promptly.
The Star reports that free agent Ovie Ejaria is of potential interest to Wednesday. The 26-year-old, who trained with the club towards the end of their survival campaign, is being considered for the 2024/25 season. However, it remains uncertain if this interest will be pursued further.
Ejaria has been a free agent since leaving Reading by mutual consent at the beginning of the year. Reading stated that his departure was due to injury and fitness issues, along with a need to cut costs. Ejaria has also been on trial with Plymouth Argyle and a return to Reading has been speculated.
A former England youth international, Ejaria progressed through Arsenal’s ranks before joining Liverpool in 2014. He debuted for Jürgen Klopp’s side in November 2016, making eight senior appearances and spending loan periods at Sunderland, Rangers, and Reading. He joined Reading permanently in 2020 and has played 135 Championship matches.
