Birmingham City is already causing concern among their League One rivals, despite not having made any player signings yet. After suffering relegation from the Championship for the first time in 30 years, the club is currently in the process of appointing a new manager and has yet to replace any of the 10 players who have left. However, with two months until the new season begins, there’s ample time for the club to regroup. Once the new manager is in place, signings are expected to follow.

The prospect of competing with Birmingham City, with their substantial budget under new American owners Knighthead, has clearly unsettled teams aiming for promotion to the Championship. Leyton Orient winger Jordan Graham, a former Birmingham player, highlighted the club’s potential impact on the league. He recalled a conversation with his manager, Richie Wellens, who expressed concerns about Birmingham’s relegation and emphasized their strength and investment. Wellens believed Birmingham should be aiming for immediate promotion back to the Championship.

The last time Birmingham played in League One, they achieved a league and cup double. Barry Fry, currently the director of football at Peterborough United, believes Birmingham can replicate that success. He expressed confidence in the club’s current ownership and their ability to guide Birmingham back to the Premier League.
