Nearly every Nottingham Forest fan is aware of the club’s struggles in filling the left-back position in recent years.

In recent weeks, French outlet L’Equipe confirmed that Forest are competing with Ligue 1 side Lille for the signature of left-back Bradley Locko.
The 22-year-old, who plays for Stade Brestois, had an outstanding 2023/24 season, featuring in 33 league games and starting 97% of their matches. Locko contributed three assists in Ligue 1 and was subsequently included in The Athletic’s Team of the Season alongside teammate Pierre Lees-Melou.
However, the Reds face competition in their pursuit of the £17m-rated Frenchman, with Manchester United and Chelsea also showing interest in the talented full-back.
While it’s unclear whether Nuno’s side is still actively pursuing Locko, they need to intensify their efforts to sign the Brest left-back, as his addition could significantly enhance the development of a Forest player on Trentside.

This season, winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has rediscovered his form in the Premier League following his £3m transfer from Chelsea.
The 23-year-old moved to the City Ground last summer to revive his career after struggling with injuries and inconsistent form at Stamford Bridge.
During the 2023/24 season, the Reds’ number 14 made 29 league appearances, scoring eight goals, making him the club’s second-highest scorer behind striker Chris Wood.
Despite Hudson-Odoi’s impressive performance, signing Locko this window could elevate his game and boost his attacking output.
The Frenchman has excelled defensively in France this season, averaging three tackles and 1.2 interceptions per 90 minutes. He is equally impressive on the ball, capable of quickly transitioning and creating opportunities for attackers—a crucial aspect of Nuno’s system at Forest.

Considering the current PSR situation on Trentside, the Reds need to make smart moves to enhance their squad during the off-season.
Nevertheless, Locko has shown remarkable skills that would significantly strengthen the left-back position and greatly increase Hudson-Odoi’s potential to create opportunities in the attacking third.
