Among the prep players on campus over the weekend was Madison Academy (Madison, AL) linebacker AJ Rice. He is listed as the 50th linebacker in the 2025 class and the 25th overall player from the state of Alabama. GoJackets.com caught up with him after his trip to Atlanta.

Friday marked the third day with a Mississippi State summer collegiate baseball league report, the second-straight day with a roster update.  GenesPage 247Sports was notified Thursday that Stone Simmons was departing for Danville in the Prospect League this weekend.  Simmons joins Aaron Downs and pitcher Jud Files in the Midwest.  The trio will play for former Mississippi State head coach Ron Polk, an assistant coach at the Illinois-based organization.  Both Simmons and Files are rebounding from arm surgery within the last 12 months, and are hoping to use the summer to continue rehabilitation.

New Diamond Dog Gehrig Frei, an incoming player from the transfer portal, has joined the list of Bulldogs in the summer, according to this website’s namesake.  He is playing for Upper Valley in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.  A native of Alpharetta, Ga., Frei came to Mississippi State from North Alabama.  He is hitting in the middle of the lineup and playing second base for the Nighthawks.  Frei, a 6-1, 200-pound infielder with the ability to play multiple positions, batted .320 at UNA with 15 home runs and 49 runs batted in.   The former Diamond Dogs in summer ball list was reduced by one when Jace Norton opted to enter the transfer portal.
