New signing Kevin Stöger talks to borussia.de about his move to Gladbach, his previous encounters with the Foals and his role in the team.
Kevin, it’s great to have you here at Borussia. What made you want to move here?
Kevin Stöger: I think Borussia was the perfect club for me. We’re a good fit for each other. I’ve already played in Gladbach a few times, of course, and I think the stadium and the fans are outstanding. I’m just really looking forward to being part of the Borussia family in general. I can hardly wait to get started and I hope we’ll have a successful time together.
What have you made of the club so far?
Stöger: I scored my first ever Bundesliga goal against Borussia in 2019 with Fortuna Düsseldorf. Of course, I remember that day very well and it’ll always stick with me. As a visiting player, though, I always dreaded coming to BORUSSIA-PARK with its incredible atmosphere. So I have all the more reason to look forward to playing for Gladbach in the future, and representing this great club and its fans.
Do you already know any of your new team-mates?
Stöger: I played with Tobias Sippel when I was at Kaiserslautern. I also know Stefan Lainer well, of course. And there’s a couple of others I know simply from how often we’ve played against each other.
What are you most looking forward to at Borussia?
Stöger: I’m looking forward to getting to know the team and the backroom staff personally. I want to give it everything out on the pitch, I’m extremely hungry and I want to make sure we achieve success together.
How would you describe yourself as a player?
Stöger: I’m the sort of player who always wants the ball. I’ve got a good left front, I’m good from dead balls and I have solid technique. But it’s best for you to see for yourself (laughs).
