Harris not ruling out new additions ahead of Hull trip but coy on Boro striker rumour

NEIL Harris says it is impossible to say whether Millwall will make more signings before tomorrow’s game at Hull City.

The Lions snapped up attacker Femi Azeez on Wednesday evening and the new boy goes straight into contention to make his debut in the lunchtime clash at the MKM Stadium.

Official confirmation of midfielder Dan Kelly’s arrival from Celtic is still awaited, although Harris has spoken previously about the need to strengthen and is clearly delighted with Azeez’s arrival.

Asked if there could be even more good news soon, the boss replied: “You never know at this stage of the season – and I’m not going to comment just about us as a football club, this is football in general. You just don’t know at this stage of the season.

“You can feel like miles away from doing a deal and then it happens in the space of six hours, or you can be very, very close to something and it just delays or stalls, so I’m not going to make any promises.

“But the guys are working tirelessly supported by Jimmy (Berylson) behind the scenes.

“We are positive that we are going to keep adding to the group.

“How many for sure? Who knows because of the nature of the beast.

Harris was also asked about one name recently linked with a move to The Den, Middlesbrough forward Josh Coburn, before phrasing his response carefully.

“I know his attributes as a player,” the manager said.

“He is a very good centre forward but I won’t comment any further.”

As for Azeez, Harris believes the 23-year-old is someone who will excite Millwall supporters and continue developing into a top talent in the Championship.

The SE16 boss explained: “Femi was one of the standout performers in League One last season certainly. He is a threat going forward but he possesses end product with goals and assists.

“His stats spek for themselves last year. His references come that he is a brilliant young man that wants to develop, learn and train hard.

“He puts the team first and has a selfish element to his game as well that I love. I’m really looking forward to working with him to hopefully help him develop back into the Championship where he started a couple of years ago with Reading.”

Harris added: “He is a ball carrier that gets you up the pitch on the counter attack or in open play and I think the fans will enjoy watching. He likes to take people on, likes to go past people.

“I think he adds great competition with Duncan (Watmore), Romain (Esse) and Aidomo (Emakhu).

“He comes into the thinking of the football club in that we want to sign younger players, develop them and help them move forward with us.”
