Josh Coburn among 2 last-minute transfers Millwall FC should consider before the August 30th deadline.

Millwall are in desperate need of signings before the fast-approaching transfer deadline.

Millwall is currently operating with a very limited squad, as manager Neil Harris recently highlighted to London News Online. He stated, “At the moment, we’re working with a core group of 14 outfield players. That’s untenable in the Championship.”

This lack of squad depth has been apparent in their early league performances, with Millwall conceding seven goals in just two games and experiencing back-to-back defeats. On the opening day, they suffered a dramatic 3-2 loss at home to Watford, despite Duncan Watmore’s second-half brace. The following weekend, they faced a similar fate, losing 4-3 to a late Scott Twine goal in their away match in the South West.

While Millwall is scoring freely, having netted five goals in their first two games, they still require another striker and additional reinforcements to strengthen squad depth for the demanding Championship season.

Harris is eager for new signings, expressing his impatience to London News Online: “I’m impatient as always – I want the players quickly. I’m being assured we will have senior reinforcements in the building over the next 10 days.”

In light of this, Football League World examines two players Millwall should target before the transfer deadline.

Josh Coburn

Millwall’s first two games have highlighted that while they have players capable of scoring, there is still a need for a new striker. Kevin Nisbet, who missed Millwall’s defeat to Bristol City, is attracting interest from Aberdeen. If he departs, Harris would be left with only Tom Bradshaw and Macaulay Langstaff as options up front.

Bradshaw is experienced but has struggled with consistency, while Langstaff is adjusting to the Championship after a prolific record in non-league and League Two. Therefore, another striker is essential.

Josh Coburn of Middlesbrough has been linked with Millwall recently. According to the South London Press, Millwall are interested in signing the 21-year-old forward. Coburn is currently lower in the pecking order at Boro, with Emmanuel Latte Lath and Tommy Conway preferred. However, Coburn recently started Boro’s 3-0 Carabao Cup win over Leeds United and scored, so Boro may not be eager to sell.

Coburn appears to be a strong fit for Millwall, especially given their struggles with squad depth. He has demonstrated an ability to score goals when given consistent playing time and could also be a valuable asset for the future.

Rocky Bushiri

Another player Millwall have recently been linked with is Hibernian defender Rocky Bushiri. According to Football Insider, Millwall are interested in the DR Congo international but face competition from Standard Liege and several other clubs for his signature.

Bushiri is in the final year of his contract at Hibs and is reportedly one of their highest earners, making him potentially available for a cut-price fee of around £250,000. Despite securing a permanent deal for Japhet Tanganga, who impressed during his loan spell, Millwall’s defensive issues have already been evident this season. Adding Bushiri to Harris’ squad would provide much-needed depth and strength at the back.
