The AFL’s Match Review Officer has handed Melbourne forward Kysaiah Pickett a three-game suspension for rough conduct. This penalty follows an incident in which Pickett collided with Collingwood’s Darcy Moore during a contest for a loose ball on Friday night at the MCG. The collision resulted in Moore suffering a concussion, as Pickett’s right arm made high contact with the Magpies captain.
The MRO has charged Pickett with rough conduct, specifically citing careless conduct, high contact, and severe impact. Consequently, Pickett will miss the start of the 2025 season, as Melbourne’s current campaign has concluded.
Pickett and Melbourne have the option to challenge the MRO’s decision at the AFL Tribunal. If the penalty is accepted, Pickett will miss the opening of a second consecutive season due to suspension, having previously served a one-game ban in the opening round of 2024 for a bump on Carlton’s Patrick Cripps in last year’s semi-final.
Additionally, Melbourne defender Marty Hore has the option to accept a $2,500 fine with an early guilty plea for a charge of forceful front-on contact.
