The Pies defender has asked for a transfer due to family matters.

COLLINGWOOD’S John Noble has requested a trade to Gold Coast for family reasons.

Noble, originally from South Australia, notified the club on Tuesday of his desire to relocate to Queensland to be nearer to his family.

A standout from the 2019 mid-season draft, Noble has played 112 AFL games for the Pies, including 20 this season, and is under contract until the end of 2026.

Despite his current contract, the Pies have stated their respect for the 27-year-old’s wish to move and will work towards facilitating a trade.

“John informed us today that he wishes to explore a trade before next season to be closer to his family,” said Pies list boss Justin Leppitsch.

“Although John is currently under contract, we recognize the importance of family and will consider this as we navigate the trade period.”

Noble was one of the poignant stories from last year’s Grand Final. Despite playing all 23 home and away games, he was excluded from the finals and missed out on a premiership medal.

Although he missed the Grand Final victory, he responded by playing an additional 20 games this season, becoming a crucial part of the Pies’ defense.

Currently, Gold Coast holds picks 6, 13, 20, 26, 34, 46, and 70 in this year’s draft, along with their 2025 picks, which might be used in a trade.

The Suns are also rumored to be interested in Richmond star Daniel Rioli, who could reunite with his premiership coach Damien Hardwick.

The trade period begins on October 7.
