Update on Will Day’s injuries

As he recovers from a collarbone injury, Will Day will not be able to compete in the first week of the championship round.

A fortnight ago, Day was substituted from Hawthorn’s Round 23 play due to an incident that occurred during the first quarter of that game.
The 23-year-old has improved since the injury, but according to Hawthorn Head Physician Liam West, he won’t be able to play on Friday.
Will is undoubtedly doing better, according to West, who noted that he has been training for the past week and has been allowed to resume running.

Will hasn’t yet recovered to the point where he can resume full skills training, and given his particular injury, we regretfully know he won’t be able to do so in time to be selected the following week.

“We hope to make progress in Will’s rehabilitation next week, and if all goes well, we may have him ready for the second week of finals.”
