There has also been an update regarding his health.
Payne Haas, a top front-rower for the Brisbane Broncos, has responded to allegations that his client left the team unexpectedly.
The last few weeks have seen a lot of talk about Payne Haas wanting to get out of Red Hill. The Broncos are reportedly hoping to sign either Christian Welch from Melbourne or Reagan Campbell-Gillard, who was confirmed to be a free agent by the Eels.
The Broncos made an attempt to sign Campbell-Gillard or Welch after they were within minutes of winning their first premiership since 2016 and failed to go to the 2024 NRL Finals after making the 2023 Grand Final less than a year before.
Haas, one of the top forwards in the tournament, was rumoured to be leaving Red Hill, joining the likes of Thomas Flegler, Kurt Capwell, Herbie Farnworth, and Keenan Palasia in leaving and joining other teams.
Ahmad Merhi, Payne Haas’ agent, has since dispelled the reports, claiming that they are completely untrue and that Haas has never desired to leave the Brisbane Broncos.
“Payne always gets a lot of media around him and there were rumours last week that he wanted to leave Brisbane, but that is the funniest thing I have ever heard,” Ahmad Merhi, his agent, told AAP.
“It’s not real. It is entirely and completely untrue. He has no intention of leaving Brisbane and has never wanted to.
“He recently purchased a brand-new home just a short stroll from the training fields and the club.
His folks have moved in. He is expecting a tiny boy and a young daughter. Additionally, Payne has adopted two of his younger brothers, who now reside with him.”

Haas is adamant about his future with the Broncos, but he will regrettably need surgery for a Lisfranc injury, which will prevent him from playing in the Pacific Championships in 2024 against Tonga and New Zealand.
It is a huge setback for Mal Meninga’s team, as the five-time Broncos Player of the Year would have been essential to taking revenge on the Kiwis, who stopped them in the final of the previous season.
“Payne goes under the knife as early as today and will have a four-month recovery,” said Merhi.
“He chose to play in the semi-finals despite having an injury that should have required surgery four or five weeks ago. That illustrates the type of person he is.
“He kept it from me. I asked him, ‘What are you doing?’ when I found out, but he was determined to continue because the club is so important to him.”
