Nottingham Forest appeal points deduction
The last week, Forest was informed of their four-point deduction for violating the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability Rules. It has been an interesting month at The City Ground.
With nine games left, that leaves Nuno Espirito Santo’s team in the bottom three; however, Forest has now filed an appeal.According to Sky Sports, if the Reds’ appeal—which will be heard in three weeks—is denied, they won’t likely face any more punishment.
Although there is doubt about Premier League football in 2024–2025 and the off-field drama, Forest seems to be preparing for the summer transfer window.
Leandro Barreiro, a midfielder for Mainz 05, is expected to become available to Forest on a free transfer when his contract ends in the summer, according to recent rumors.
Despite the Reds signing Matt Turner, Matz Sels, and Odysseas Vlachodimos from Benfica, Arsenal, and Strasbourg this season, another goalkeeper may be in the works in addition to a new midfield player.
Nottingham Forest eyeing Jack Butland move
Rangers turned down a bid from Forest for Jack Butland during the January transfer window, but the 31-year-old, who is valued at £15,500,000, is still a target for the Reds, according to Football Insider.
Although Butland is rumored to be planning an Ibrox departure and a return to the Premier League this summer, two other Premier League teams that have not yet been revealed will compete with Forest.
His achievements this season have earned him a new England call-up, and he has been in excellent form for Rangers as they attempt to defeat Celtic for the Scottish Premiership title.
That didn’t happen, but the nine-cap England player, who earns £25,000 a week, looks to be back to his best. Barry Ferguson was surprised that Gareth Southgate didn’t choose Butland for the most recent international campaign.
“I’m not just saying this because he’s the Rangers goalkeeper; I couldn’t believe it when I watched the announcement. To be honest, I have no idea what to say. Yes, the keepers who were chosen in front of him are excellent keepers. Are they superior to Jack Butland, though? Not in my opinion.
“I would be disappointed if I were him. If that happened, I would be upset. However, he will utilize the remaining games of the season to go out and prove to everyone how wonderful of a goalie he is if he is feeling irate, frustrated, or disillusioned.

Appearances | 47 |
Clean sheets | 23 |

Although he didn’t make the squad, there is still a remote chance that he will travel to Germany, and that was a bad decision. But for now, all Jack can do is carry on with his game as he has since arriving here. Nothing else is in his power. And ever since he arrived, he has been the Rangers’ man mountain in the back.
It remains to be seen, though, if Butland is prepared to take over as Forest’s starting goalkeeper. Since the Reds’ return to the top division, a ‘keeper has been a source of frustration.
Sels is the first choice, but Dean Henderson, Keylor Navas, Turner, Vlachodimos, and Sels have all tried in previous years. It will be intriguing to see if Forest makes a run for Butland.
