Red Wings Prospects Sweep Two-Game Series Against Stars

RECAP: Red Wings finish off sweep of Stars at 2024 NHL Prospect Games with 3-2 win | Detroit Red Wings

Alexandre Doucet and Hunter Johannes each contributed a goal and an assist on Sunday, leading the Detroit Red Wings prospects to a 3-2 win over the Dallas Stars at Centre I.C.E. Arena in Traverse City.

With this victory, the Red Wings swept the two-game series, which precedes the start of training camp on Thursday, where veterans will join many of these prospects on the ice.

Doucet, an undrafted free agent signed by the Red Wings last year, will join the Grand Rapids Griffins this season. He scored his third goal in two games by netting a rebound off Johannes’ shot at 14:58 of the first period.

Later, Doucet assisted Johannes with a one-timer from the top of the face-off circle, breaking a 1-1 tie at 16:45 of the second period. Johannes, who was signed by the Griffins in April, converted the pass into a goal.

Emmitt Finnie extended the Red Wings’ lead to 3-1 on a power play at 14:07 of the third period. The seventh-round pick from 2023, expected to play for Grand Rapids, scored with a shot from the face-off circle after receiving a cross-ice pass from Jakub Rychlovsky.

Carter Gylander, a seventh-round pick in 2019 and likely to start his pro career with ECHL Toledo, made 12 saves on 12 shots in his 30 minutes of play, allowing only one goal on 30 shots across 90 minutes.

Landon Miller, a fourth-round pick from this year out of OHL Sault Ste. Marie, played the second half of the game, stopping 16 of 18 shots.
