This Saturday, Millwall will visit QPR for a Championship London rivalry.
Josh Coburn, a summer acquisition for Millwall, will be out for six to eight weeks as a result of a calf injury sustained during the team’s Championship loss to Luton Town at The Den last Saturday.
Arriving at the London team on Deadline Day, the loanee from Middlesbrough had only played twice for the team since finalising his transfer. Before the international break, Coburn scored in his Millwall debut game against Sheffield Wednesday. However, he was substituted out after 34 minutes against the Hatters.
Neil Harris, the manager of Millwall, has now given the injury a six-to eight-week layoff. “Josh Coburn is going to be out for six to eight weeks,” he said to the South London Press.
“The bad news is that. Over the course of the next 14 days, we’ll monitor its progress. We’ve been chasing this player all summer. When he eventually enters the building, he scores the first goal; it is disappointing to lose him.
It’s among those situations. What is bad for one is good for another. Macaulay Langstaff was unlucky not to open his account for the club, but I felt he played really well when he came on. Since he scores goals naturally, I have no doubt that it won’t be long.”
With the team losing star Zian Flemming to Burnley this summer, it’s a major setback for Millwall. Additionally, Kevin Nisbet left London to play on loan at Aberdeen for the season, which prompted Harris to discuss the need for upfront additions in public.
They were Coburn and club record signing Mihailo Ivanovic; however, the latter is currently also out due to injury. This weekend, Millwall, who were eliminated by Leyton Orient in midweek Carabao Cup action, will play QPR in the Championship.
Following the brief trip to Loftus Road, there are games against Cardiff City and Preston North End, followed by a difficult trip to top-of-the-table West Brom. Before the end of October, Coburn might also miss games against Swansea City, Plymouth Argyle, and Derby County.
