OVERSEXT Russell Martin stated that Sam Amo-Ameyaw has a long-term strategy after the teenager was inactive in the Carabao Cup match against Everton.
The 18-year-old Amo-Ameyaw, who scored against Cardiff City in the previous round, did not take the pitch at Goodison Park because Martin chose to start Tyler Dibling instead of him.
The opening weekend of the Premier League this season marked the England under-19 international’s only Premier League debut to date.
Martin acknowledged that Amo-Ameyaw is not as physically strong as his colleagues Maxwel Cornet and Dibling, who are ranked higher than him.
“I think it’s difficult for him because Tyler played so well,” the manager stated to the Daily Echo.
“Max Cornet entered the room. Adam Armstrong spent over forty games last season on right wing.
“He is eighteen.” For his age, he has already played a good number of minutes for us throughout the past season. It seems like a lot in comparison to others.
“He needs to keep getting better because he trains with us every day. Although he is a very gifted player, he is not yet physically as good as Tyler.

“He’ll be unhappy not to play against Everton, but we’re incredibly enthusiastic about it. Again, though, I’m paid to attempt to win football games.
“I thought Tyler was playing a game with his roughness. We are up against a large, powerful, and physically fit squad.
“Hopefully, that was the best course of action. Sam will therefore be alright. Working with him took up a lot of our time, as did our chats.
Contrary to how I usually feel about agents, I really get along really well with his, which is rather unusual for me.
He knows there’s a long-term plan with Sam because we’ve been together for a long time. and we’ll simply continue evaluating his position and circumstances.”
