Harris confirms Millwall loan signing injury with player returning to parent club

MILLWALL boss Neil Harris confirmed loan signing Calum Scanlon has returned to Liverpool to be treated for a stress fracture in his back. Harris refused to confirm how long the 19-year-old will be out for.

“He’s got a stress fracture in his back, which is a recurring injury for him,” Harris said. “It’s unfortunate. We’re very disappointed to lose him because he was something completely different to what we’ve got in the squad as a very attacking-minded full-back.

“He’s gone back to Liverpool to be treated in the short and mid-term. He’s going to be rescanned at six weeks and then we’ll have a better idea how long he’s going to be, whether he’s going to be back soon after that, or whether it’s going to be an extended period. Anything past that is not a discussion at the moment.”

Scanlon came on late against Luton in last week’s home defeat to make his debut but was not part of Millwall’s squad against QPR. On Thursday, Scanlon wrote a message on Instagram saying he expects to miss the next four months through injury.
