“Statement” victory tarnished as star admitted to hospital

Brisbane Broncos financial report: Ben Ikin, Dave Donaghy salaries revealed | The Courier Mail

Injuries have clouded a “statement victory” for the Brisbane Broncos, as second-rower Romy Teitzel is being transported to the hospital.

Teitzel’s admission to the hospital for back scans after claiming to have “nerve complaints” during the halftime break was concerning for the Broncos.

Teitzel was seen “walking on crutches” when she was taken to the hospital, despite the team’s initial fears being modest.

Eight mistakes in the first 20 minutes allowed the Dragons easy yards while the “uncharacteristic” Broncos line failed to adjust to the intense heat.

Ruan Sims remarked on Nine, “That is unheard of for them.”

Johnathan Thurston continued, “They may be among the best attacking teams, but they have been let down by basic errors.”

However, Jada Ferguson’s strong run over the line turned the tide in favor of the Broncos, making the Dragons pay dearly for the brief absence of playmaker Tyla King.

Marlee Silva of Nine expressed concern over King’s withdrawal from the game, pointing out that the star had missed many games earlier in the season due to a significant concussion.

“What’s really concerning is she has had a bad concussion already this season, which saw her sit out for a number of games,” she explained.

“Before her return, she experienced persistent ailments, including headaches. We sincerely hope she is unaffected by this and is able to return.”

The Broncos gather in a huddle during the round nine NRLW match between St George Illawarra Dragons and Brisbane Broncos.

Maroons center Shenae Ciesiolka, with her deft movement, set off Brisbane’s onslaught as she dove over for back-to-back tries.

The team’s lead was increased by Julia Robinson’s double, and Mele Hufanga and Chlsea Lenarduzzi’s performances further distanced the Dragons from victory.

Steph Hancock, 42, was determined to make a try before his 22-year playing career ended, and he did so by dating over from close range to score.

However, the retiring star was disqualified after the Bunker reviewed the footage, which showed that she had planted the ball short.

In the 64th minute, Ferguson completed the scoring with a magnificent try to make the final score 44–14.
