BREAK: “Many positives are drawn from Arsenal’s loss.”

Carla Ward, who has only won one of Aston Villa’s eight home Barclays Women’s Super League games this season, spoke to the media prior to the team’s impending matchup with Leicester City, who are currently being managed by Jennifer Foster, Ward’s former Birmingham City coach.

The hosts’ remaining WSL games against West Ham United and Manchester City will take place at Villa Park; this weekend’s encounter will be their only home game in Walsall this season.

After conceding in the 84th and 86th minutes of Sunday’s match against Arsenal, Ward shared her constructive ideas after the dismal outcome.

It is evident that in the last few weeks, we have switched systems, which has given us the opportunity to attend to several areas that required attention. We succeeded in getting onto the pitch against Everton. We will not discuss the third goal because we were clearly dissatisfied with the first and second goals against Arsenal, but we neutralized them for extended periods of time. Despite the fact that we did not feel that way at the time, I believe there are many benefits to be gained from it.

With five games remaining to potentially boost their point total, Ward said she is excited for Saturday’s 12:00 kickoff against a Leicester City team. The Foxes have already amassed the same amount of points as they did for the entire previous season.

Naturally, we want to get there and earn as many points as possible. It seems to me that the game is one in which we can try to move and put points on the board. It will not be simple; they have suffered some setbacks. However, I am familiar with Jen Foster, as she was one of my coaches at Birmingham City’s Blues. We anticipate a challenging afternoon since, as you are aware, they have had a respectable season thus far. She will undoubtedly have them organized.

In terms of team news, Kirsty Hanson, an attacking asset who has missed the last two games due to injury, may make a comeback. However, long-term injury absentees Daphne van Domselaar and Lucy Staniforth will not be playing.

There has not been much of a change in the figures since last week. We still have the longer-term ones out, but it was encouraging to see Kirsty [Hanson] back on the field and appear to be in excellent health the other day. Nothing else seems to have changed, in my opinion; everyone is still the same as they were last week.

Regarding a potential comeback to the dugout, Ward stated that she might be ready for the match on Saturday after giving a walkie-talkie speech about her orders against Arsenal at Villa Park on Sunday due to illness.

I might remain up there after seeing some of those memes! I was not at all good, I promise. To be very honest, I did not feel fantastic over the weekend or even during the game. However, I believe it is accurate to state that it is currently wiping off half of the nation. It seems like someone has it somewhere everywhere I go.

This week, we have lost another employee and a player due to it. Thankfully, they returned this morning, which is encouraging, but it is simply one of those things. You are familiar with the sensation of picking something up. We spend a few days in bed before moving on, but me being me, I could not resist.

Aston Villa is gearing up to make the final game of the season at the Poundland Bescot Stadium something to remember for everyone who attends, with Ward expected to resume her usual position and Hanson possibly making a comeback to the matchday squad.
