Millwall star issues ‘massive’ verdict as Daniel Farke makes demand of new Leeds United duo

There is no rest for the Championship clubs this week after another busy weekend, with Millwall beating Preston North End and QPR coming up short with Blackburn Rovers. Attention must quickly turn to the mid-week fixture slate, with the Lions in action at Cardiff City and the Hoops hosting Hull City.

Both London sides will want to push for a mid-table or top-half finish, and we should see the table take some sort of shape over the next six weeks or so, with fixtures set to pile up. In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest news and transfer rumours surrounding the second tier.

Millwall star issues 'massive' verdict as Farke makes Leeds duo demand

Bryan praises Millwall trio

Millwall defender Joe Bryan has followed Neil Harris in praising attacking teammates Romain Esse, George Honeyman and Duncan Watmore. He told the South London Press: “Rom is getting the plaudits at the moment because he’s such a fantastic player and he’s improving every game.“With the other three guys, Macca has taken a while to find his feet in the league, which is natural – it takes a while.

“The jump up for him has been massive and he showed what he was all about today. Duncan and George charge around. They might be unorthodox, but they’re playing really well and credit to every single one of the four.”

Le Bris on injuries

Sunderland boss Régis Le Bris has confirmed some positive injury news for his side as they prepare to take on Derby County having dealt with a number of injuries of late.

“Alan Browne will be available, but Eliezer and Dan aren’t,” Le Bris said, as cited by the Sunderland Echo. “We think that they will probably be back after the international break.”

Farke on new signings

Daniel Farke has told new signings Ao Tanaka and Largie Ramazani there is room to improve as they continue to bed in at Elland Road. He said: “We try to support with our tools, lots of communication, showing them videos and individual scenes in order to improve them even more in terms of their positioning and passing choices and to bring our ideal principles of football onto the pitch. But it’s always up to the players.

“We should be careful to praise them too much. I’m happy with what they have done but in all areas, there is lots of space for improvement. I want them to keep on improving their fitness and physicality to be ready with full 90 minutes and highest intensity. They have quality skills.

“There are many young players who are working really hard. They are great characters. I said after we signed them that it’s important to have good characters within the group. With good characters, it’s a bit easier to make sure they reach the level. They are on a good path but are not the finished product. It’s hard to replace straight away proven players in the offence like Daniel James or Manor Solomon or in the defensive positions like Ethan [Ampadu] and Max [Wober] but they are in a good way at the moment.”
