Doing it the right way": Wright on Deputy CEO appointment

Wright, who has been with Fremantle since 2019 in various administrative roles, brings a wealth of experience to the position. His focus will be on further developing the club’s strategic direction, improving operations, and ensuring sustainable success. Speaking after his appointment, Wright said, “I’m incredibly honoured to take on the role of Deputy CEO at Fremantle. The club has been heading in the right direction for a number of years, and I’m excited to help lead us forward in a way that’s sustainable and aligned with our values. We’re doing it the right way – building a strong culture, developing our people, and ensuring we’re a club that can consistently compete at the highest level.”

His appointment comes at a crucial time for Fremantle as the Dockers look to solidify their place as a consistent contender in the AFL. Wright will work closely with CEO Simon Garlick to oversee key areas such as list management, player development, and community engagement. Under their leadership, the club is focused on creating a long-term pathway to success while maintaining a strong presence within the community.

Wright’s leadership philosophy centers on collaboration and innovation, two key principles he believes will drive Fremantle’s next phase of growth. “It’s about making sure we continue to evolve as a club and as a team, both on and off the field. The foundations are there, and now it’s about making sure we continue to build on them the right way,” he added.
