The Tottenham academy graduate had a strong start to his career, making his Premier League debut aged 20, and started games against the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, injuries meant Tanganga was unable to kick on and become a first team regular, although he still started 24 Premier League games over the course of four seasons.

Despite initially struggling with being on the sidelines, Tanganga now views the setbacks positively.

“Injuries are difficult moments for a footballer,” Tanganga said. “You see the team training and you are still. I often wondered why my body kept falling apart.”

“But even if it may seem strange, from my perspective they were gifts. Gifts of God.”

Tanganga has remained fit since joining the Lions last January. He has made 25 appearances, and only missed two games through suspension. He has started every game he has been available for this season.

Over the summer clubs like Ipswich Town, Parma and Luton Town all vied for his signature, but Tanganga chose to return to The Den after enjoying his first six months there.
