THE Carlton Football Club can today confirm a further three changes to its AFL playing group.
Jack Carroll will depart the Club after not being offered a new contract for 2025, while Sam Durdin and Matt Carroll have been offered a train-on opportunity during pre-season as part of the supplemental selection period (SSP).
Jack Carroll played 21 games across four seasons for Carlton, after being selected with pick No.41 in the 2020 national draft.
Making his debut in Round 7, 2022, Carroll played 15 games this season, spending most of his time in the midfield.
Durdin arrived at IKON Park via the 2022 Mid-season Rookie Draft, with the 28-year-old featuring in two games at senior level, while making 24 VFL appearances for the Club.
Matt Carroll was selected at pick No.15 in the 2023 AFL Rookie Draft. He did not make a senior appearance in 2024 due to a persistent groin injury, though worked his way back to play in a reserves scratch match during the AFL finals series.
“Jack leaves the football club with lifelong friendships, which is a testament to the positive contribution he made to the group during his four seasons with us and we wish him well for the next opportunity in his career,” Carlton Head of List Management Nick Austin said.
“Sam and Matt had their challenges with injury this year but we have admired their resilience to keep fronting up. While both players have not been offered new playing contracts to this point, they have both been invited to train with the squad and push for a spot on the playing list during the upcoming pre-season.”
