Padres reliever Jeremiah Estrada has spoken up ten days after the San Diego Padres’ 2024 season ended prematurely when they lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.
During the 2024 MLB postseason, Estrada made four appearances for the Padres. He pitched in three games against the Dodgers during the NLDS and one game against the Atlanta Braves during the NL Wild Card round. Estrada pitched 4.1 innings in his four appearances, giving up five hits, one walk, and one unearned run while striking out five. In Game 5, the NLDS championship game, he did not throw a pitch.
Despite the Padres’ failure to make it to the NL Championship Series, Estrada was thankful for his season-long experience.

After being claimed off waivers by the Padres, Estrada joined the team in November 2023. He agreed to a $740,000, one-year contract with San Diego. Estrada began his career with the Chicago Cubs, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2017 MLB Draft, before joining the Padres.
Estrada only played in 17 games overall during his two major league seasons with the Cubs, but he made his MLB debut toward the close of the 2022 season. During that period, Estrada alternated between the major and lower leagues, and after the 2023 season, the Cubs cut him from the 40-man roster.
Estrada had a career-high 62 appearances in his first season with the Padres. He finished the 2024 season 6-3 overall with 94 strikeouts and a 2.95 ERA. In late May of his career, Estrada threw 13 consecutive strikeouts, setting an MLB record during the expansion era. With the Padres, he also had some of his finest pitches and figures around the conclusion of the season, recording a 0.00 ERA in the postseason and a 0.84 ERA in September.
