Kevin Durant reflects on another historic achievement, Suns’ start to season

“I done hit a couple milestones since I’ve been here,” Durant said postgame. “You always know I got to give credit to the people that helped me since I was kid, who taught me the game. Teammates who passed me the ball, set screens for me. Coaches who drew up plays for me.

“I think when I do stuff like that, I tend to think about them a lot. I’m just grateful that I have such great people in my life to help push me and lift me up when I need them to and encourage me. And then I have teammates that just help build my love for the game, so I’m grateful for them.”

The very next game, Durant reached a unique achievement with a 30-point outing in a 109-105 win over the Los Angeles Lakers Monday, becoming the oldest player in NBA history to start a season with four-straight 25-point games. He also is now up to three-straight games with 30 points or more.

“I don’t know whether I should enjoy that stat or not,” Durant said about the streak on the Up and Adams Show with Kay Adams.

Durant leads the Suns and is seventh in the NBA with 29.0 points per game. Phoenix is 3-1 to begin the year, and Durant is very happy with the start.

“It’s been a good start of the season,” Durant said. “We’re having a lot of fun. We’ve played some tough, tough teams to start, so that’s good for us to get out the gates early and get some good competition and see what we are as a team. Some good back-to-back wins, have especially been good. Dallas, Lakers, two teams that can be championship teams, we play against them early in the season, it’s only going to be good for us.”
