The horrifying degree of Christian Petracca’s internal injuries, sustained by the Melbourne Demons during their AFL match against Collingwood on King’s Birthday, was revealed.
Christian Petracca, a key player for the Melbourne Demons, suffered many injuries, including a laceration to his spleen, during a collision in his team’s King’s Birthday loss to Collingwood. As a result, he will be sidelined permanently.
Following a marking contest at the MCG late in the first quarter in which Collingwood skipper Darcy Moore kneed him in the ribs, Petracca, 28, was brought to the hospital following the game.
Before the pain grew intolerable, he valiantly returned to the field after being evaluated at halftime and given pain medication.
Football great Tim Watson commented, “This is extraordinary, Christian barely crawled off the ground at quarter-time.”
Legend Cameron Ling of Geelong continued, saying, “He’s not comfortable out there at all, but he’s being so brave right now.” I’m not sure how long he can endure.
Christian Petracca, the hero of the Melbourne Demons, will be out for an undetermined period of time after scans revealed that he sustained many injuries during his team’s June 10 King’s Birthday loss to Collingwood.
Despite suffering a nasty blow to the ribs at the conclusion of the first period, the midfielder miraculously continued to play at the MCG.
After a while, Petracca was subbed off and taken to the hospital for scans, which showed that he had a minor puncture in his lung, a lacerated spleen, and four broken ribs.
