Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin says his team’s disappointing loss to West Coast indicates they are “nowhere near” where they need to be, but he believes his players can find a way forward.
West Coast produced one of the biggest upsets of the AFL season, defeating Melbourne by 35 points in Perth on Sunday.
The Demons were blasted 56-35 inside 50 metres, with the 16.9 (105) to 10.10 (70) score marking Melbourne’s worst loss since round 11 in 2022. A win would have moved Melbourne (6-4) into third place, but the Demons have dropped to seventh ahead of Sunday’s match against St Kilda at the MCG.
