Four Lads: Rangers must get rarely-seen flop ‘Off the books’ for £500k, has ‘Drained’ the squad

Rangers told to offload Matondo for £500k as Four Lads make Ibrox transfer claim

Rangers must sell Rabbi Matondo for £500,000 to get him “off the books” as he continues to struggle with fitness, Four Lads have said.

The Welshman, who arrived at Ibrox in a £2.5million deal in 2022 [The National], has only made four Scottish Premiership appearances this season, having sustained a new injury in the defeat to Celtic in September.

Having missed 56 games for club and country since his move to Scotland [Transfermarkt], fans have become frustrated with the lack of game time from the winger and now there are calls for his exit this January.

Writing via X on Tuesday (3 December), Four Lads said: “I got all sorts of grief for saying I would take a £500k fee just to get him off the books because he was never available.

“I stand by it. People like this and recruitment like this have drained our squad.”

Rangers to sell injury-prone Rabbi Matondo?

The Gers had a brilliant opportunity to offload the 24-year-old during the summer transfer window, with Norwich City credited with an interest in the player [Mike McGrath], though a move never came to fruition.

While he has shown spurts of talent and ability on the pitch, he has not been fit enough to put a run of games together, making his stay at Ibrox all the more baffling.

Considering he has only played nine more games than he has missed for club and country since arriving in Scotland, the £2.5million looks to be a definite waste of money.

Matondo is back in training and could be ready to make his return to the first team for the first time since September, but fans will just be expecting a new injury setback to occur at some point.

Once the January transfer window opens, fans will be expecting the winger to be one of multiple exits, but the main issue will be finding a new club for such an injury-stricken player.
