INJURY CRISIS:Dan Sweeney will be out for an extended period, according to Stevenage’s injury update

Though there is better news about the full-back, the 30-year-old will be sidelined for “quite a while” since neither the center-half nor Kane Smith were able to finish that game.
Prior to Boro’s League One match at the Lamex against Barnsley, manager Alex Revell stated: “He sustained a serious injury to his knee, but there’s good news—it won’t be as lengthy as we initially thought.
However, Sweens is disappointed because he returned in fantastic form and performed admirably everywhere.
“Although we are clearly unhappy for him, he is optimistic about his contributions to the group here, so now it’s up to us to support him and see that he properly recovers.
“Kane Smith left with a minor annoyance. It’s close to certain if he will survive.
And once more, it’s unfortunate for him because he’s been playing well and proving to people just how brilliant he is.
Both Sweens and Kane, who are significant characters in their own right—Kane for his acting and Sweens for his voice—find it disappointing.
“Unfortunately, this is part of football and why we’ve got a squad, and they are both on the road to recovery.”
However, while one player’s door closes, another has a chance to seize the shirt with both hands.
“Charlie Goode and Nathan Thompson, who’s been outstanding throughout pre-season and our time together, have been waiting in the wings,” Revell stated.
“There’s an opportunity for someone to enter and make a claim since there are other guys who can play there as well.
“Once more, this is the reason we have a strong and deep team.
“We’ll see what team gets selected and what that personnel is but whoever steps in will be ready and will know they have to play to their best standards to stay in the team.”
It’s likely that two more players will be left out as well.
Jamie Reid has not been seen at all during the season or the friendlies prior to it, while Luther Wildin has missed the last few games.
“With Jamie, it’s just a waiting game,” Revell said, looking discouraged. Everyone wants to see him back because we all know what he’s like, how he acts in the group, and everything about him. He’s working hard both inside and outside of the group.
“Luther has been reintroduced to the group, but it might be too soon for him to play.
“He’s worked extremely hard over these last couple of weeks, they both have, to make sure that when they are ready and we get the all clear, they are ready to hit the ground running.”
