This week, midfielder Juninho Bacuna of Birmingham City is overseas on international duty.

In a poor season for the Blues, the 26-year-old has been one of their best performers. The Caribbean nation of Curacao is the one that Bacuna represents.

It’s odd that when Bacuna suited up for his nation today, he didn’t play against another nation. Instead, he took on Hull City, Birmingham’s Championship opponents. There aren’t many club vs country matches, so Bacuna was a part of an uncommon event.

They were played at Corendon Airplanes Park by the Tigers, who are in Antalya for a warm-weather training camp. The Curacao team defeated the Hull team’s second-string 1-0.

In addition to starting the game, Bacuna got two chances to score a point for himself. In a contest that will not officially count as a cap for Bacuna and company, Rangelo Janga scored the game’s lone goal. After 71 minutes of play, Jaron Vicario took his position.

Bacuna will play for Curacao in two games against a club team, this being the first. On Tuesday, March 26, they take on Alanyaspor, a Turkish Super Lig team. Dick Advocaat, who was Sunderland’s manager before, is currently in charge of his country.

With multiple matches versus Hull, the midfielder, who was born in Groningen, is well-acquainted with the team. Bacuna has participated in three of the four Championship and FA Cup meetings between Birmingham and Hull this season.
Among the few players called up for international duty is Bacuna. When Birmingham plays QPR on Friday, March 29, they will be hoping that all of them return to their original injury status. The initial training sessions that Gary Rowett will lead after his confirmed return to the team on Tuesday evening will be missed by those traveling with their respective nationalities.

Regarding those who aren’t there, Jordan James is expected to start tonight’s Wales vs. Finland EURO 2024 play-off semifinal. If they triumph, they will play the victor of Poland vs. Estonia on Tuesday night in Cardiff.

Jay Stansfield is a member of the England U-21 team. On Friday, March 22, Lee Carsley’s team plays Azerbaijan; on Tuesday, March 26, they play Luxembourg.GET MORE NEWS HERE
