The League One side are keen to add to their side as they look to rebuild after relegation from the Championship last season. According to the report Burnley are keen to offload the player and Birmingham have made an inquiry into his availability.

They could face competition, however, from managerless Sunderland and Bristol City, who may yet enter the race.

Who is Scott Twine?

Scott Twine progressed through the ranks of Swindon Town, embarking on loan spells to Chippenham, Waterford and Newport County during his time at the County Ground. He appeared 59 times for the Robins contributing nine goals before departing for MK Dons in the summer of 2021.

He picked up the Player of the Season in League One in his first season for the club after scoring 20 times and contributing 13 assists in all competitions in his only season with the Dons.

This impressive campaign alerted Burnley who purchased the player in a seven figure deal. From there he had loan spells at Hull City and Bristol City and is likely to depart permanently after only 18 appearances for his parent club.

A good move for Birmingham City?

It certainly is an ambitious move. Twine, despite his lack of appearances, for Burnley, is still a top quality performer. He has shown it in patches at Bristol City and Hull City but perhaps needs to find a permanent home again as he enters his prime. The move to Burnley was perhaps a tad too early, but after the season he had enjoyed for MK Dons, he probably felt he was unstoppable. A return to League One for a side hoping to compete towards the top may help revitalise his career as he can show his ability once again at the level he picked up the Player of the Season award.
