Evan Ferguson’s return has been delayed due to an injury setback.

Evan Ferguson Comeback Put On Ice Following Injury Setback
Evan Ferguson made a significant impact two years ago and started last season in impressive form, living up to the hype. His hat-trick against Newcastle was particularly notable, sparking speculation about big-money transfers for the Meath native.

However, Ferguson’s goal-scoring form has since dipped, and he has been enduring a goal drought dating back to November of the previous year. A serious ankle injury cut his season short last March, with hopes that a summer of rehab would prepare him for the 2024/25 Premier League season.

Unfortunately, his comeback has encountered a minor setback, and he will not be available for this weekend’s opener against Everton. There is optimism that the Bettystown native will be fit for the following week.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler commented, “Several players have returned this week, but I can’t confirm if they’ll be ready for the first game at Everton. Pervis Estupinan and Tariq Lamptey are back on the pitch, and Ferguson will be too. It’s promising news, but I’m unsure if they’re ready for the first match.”

Interestingly, Brighton’s second match of the season will be against Manchester United, a club that has recently shown interest in signing the Irish youngster.

According to the Daily Star, United is contemplating a £50 million bid for Ferguson before the transfer window closes. The Red Devils have previously expressed interest in the Brighton star, and speculation about a move to Old Trafford continues to persist.

This potential transfer aligns with United’s current strategy of targeting young, promising players with significant potential, rather than spending large amounts on players nearing the end of their careers.

However, Ferguson’s immediate focus should be on getting fit for the upcoming fixture in two weeks. There’s even a slight chance that he could be seen in United’s dugout instead of Brighton’s for that match.
