Adam Reynolds, the captain of the Broncos, has come under fire, but Kevin Walters has responded, saying he would not let the seasoned halfback go next season.
Gorden Tallis, a legend in the club, has criticised Reynolds after a horrifying surrender against the Dolphins last Saturday ruined Brisbane’s prospects of playing football in the finals.
In a shocking turn of events, Tallis questioned Reynolds’ ability to lead and suggested that his position at Red Hill should be questioned, especially since he appeared as a guest on Triple M right after teammate Billy Walters resigned over criticism of his father.
The troubled coach has now spoken in, praising the 33-year-old and highlighting his status within the Broncos’ four walls.
No, Walters remarked, “it hasn’t been fair.”
“Adam is our commander, and we adore him here.
I’ve had multiple talks with Adam. The most important thing is to pay attention to the noise coming from within since that is what matters most.”
After moving up to Brisbane in 2022, Reynolds had an instant impression on the team and led them to nearly make it to the playoffs in his first season. The following year, he guided the powerhouse to an unprecedented premiership.
The club’s decline this season has coincided with his injury problems, and amid growing pressure, Walters emphasised Reynolds’ leadership abilities.
“He’ll be our captain next year, 100 per cent,” he stated.
