Former Exeter City and Bristol Rovers manager Paul Tisdale has been appointed to a new strategic role at Celtic, reporting directly to the board. After assisting the club during the summer transfer window, Tisdale, 51, has secured a permanent position at Parkhead as the Head of Football Operations.
In this role, he will focus on “overseeing the development and management of effective operations to support high-level football performance.” His responsibilities include overseeing talent identification and development, aligning with Celtic’s goal of cultivating Champions League-caliber players through both the academy and recruitment.
Tisdale will also collaborate with club analysts to enhance operational processes.
“We are thrilled to appoint Paul as Head of Football Operations, and we believe he will add a new dimension to our efforts,” said a club spokesperson. “Talent identification and development, from our Academy to the first team, is central to the club’s strategy, and Paul brings a wealth of expertise in these areas.”
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers expressed his enthusiasm for Tisdale’s appointment, stating: “I’m delighted we’ve brought Paul on board in this crucial new role and look forward to working with him. He is highly skilled and will provide us with a competitive edge.
“He has a deep understanding of modern football and knows what’s needed to help the club perform at a high level. His expertise will be invaluable as we continue to develop and succeed in various areas of the club.”
Tisdale himself commented on the appointment: “It’s a great honor to take on this role at Celtic, a club with such prestige and history. I’m excited to get started and contribute to our continued success. Celtic always strives for excellence, and I’ll be working hard to further our talent identification, development, and analytics to support the club’s high standards.
“I’ve already seen the quality and dedication of the people at Celtic, and I’m eager to join the team as we work together to achieve success for the club and its supporters.”
