Former Cardiff City Favourite Drops Major Hint About Future.

At 33, Junior Hoilett might be considered past his prime by some, but the forward has been performing strongly since signing for Aberdeen in mid-February.

The Canadian international has had a productive stint at Pittodrie, rediscovering his form and enjoyment in football. With two goals and six assists in just 13 appearances for Aberdeen, Junior Hoilett has impressed fans since his arrival.

This marks his first spell in Scotland, after a lengthy career in England’s top two divisions. An exciting left-winger, Hoilett made 266 Championship appearances and another 161 in the Premier League with Blackburn Rovers, Queens Park Rangers, Cardiff City, and Reading.

Hoilett’s best period came at Cardiff City, where he became a fan favorite due to his dazzling performances. A key player in the 2017-18 squad that earned promotion to the Premier League, he holds a special place in the hearts of Bluebirds supporters.

In recent years, Hoilett’s career had slowed, partly due to a failed move to MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps. However, his move to Aberdeen has revitalized him.

Hoilett’s contract expires this summer, and no decision has been made about his future. Despite a challenging season for Aberdeen, the team has improved since his signing. In an interview with the Press & Journal after Aberdeen’s 5-1 win over Livingston, Hoilett hinted at his desire to stay:

“I hope not. I am enjoying myself here. We will see what happens over the summer. I’ve not had any discussions over my future yet.”

He praised interim manager Peter Levin and expressed appreciation for the support from fans, teammates, and the club:

“Peter has been supportive since day one. I have enjoyed my time here and the fans, teammates, and everybody at the club has been really supportive of me. We will have one more game and then we will see what happens over the summer.”

Hoilett became a cult hero in England’s top two divisions, particularly productive at Cardiff due to his rapport with Neil Warnock, which influenced his move to Aberdeen. He has thrived in Scotland and appears keen to re-sign for the next season. The decision now rests with the club.
