“You have to learn a lot of lessons along the way when attempting to reach the top; you never know what you don’t know, but those experiences teach you invaluable lessons about how to improve.

“We want to hold onto the happiness, but in order to improve, we must continue to face challenges.”

Cripps, who constantly pushes himself and everyone around him to perform at the highest level, recognized that raising the bar and fostering a high-performance environment would require the efforts of everyone at the Club, not just the players.

The captain will be adamant on using the sentiment of the moment to drive their 2025 campaign, stating that “you don’t know what you don’t know.”

“Hunger will always exist because everyone has the same goal; the trick is figuring out how to get there,” he remarked.

Inside the end of season meeting

Sincere and unvarnished. Enter the team meeting that not only put an end to ’24 but also established the benchmark for ’25.

“You will always feel upset when you invest so much time and energy into something you want so much; if you don’t feel that way, you either don’t value other things or your desire isn’t great enough.”

Even though he had one of his greatest seasons to date, Cripps still has a lot he wants to improve on in the future, including his leadership abilities, game, and personal growth.

The midfielder’s work is never done because he wants to leave an impression every time he takes the field, even though he believed he improved as a leader and became more consistent in his on-field performance this year.

“I always strive to maximize my potential; I view every game as an opportunity to demonstrate my abilities, learn from my experiences, and try to incorporate the elements and lessons I’ve worked on into my craft,” he added.

“With the consistency I was able to produce this year compared to last year, I was probably able to notice some jumps.”

Cripps, who has a daughter of his own and a club that is ready to explode with baby fever, feels that the team is developing both on and off the field together, an idea that thrills him and brings back memories of his childhood in the country.

The midfield player, who always wants to foster a strong bond and culture at IKON Park, is thrilled to see his colleagues become fathers and is looking forward to more family time they can spend together while they succeed.

“It’s like we’re all learning and growing up together—that’s what healthy environments centered around connection are all about,” he stated.

“Footy clubs are special because, although it’s our work, there’s something about them that feels more like a community, and that’s what I love about them and what I’m trying to keep fostering and developing.”
