Nic Newman has opened up about his bittersweet return to the Sydney Swans this season, after a brief stint with Carlton.
In an emotional interview, Newman revealed that leaving the Swans in the first place was a difficult decision, but he felt it was necessary for his growth as a player. “I loved my time at the Swans, but I needed a new challenge. However, being away made me realize how much I missed the Club and its culture.”

The boys have been great, and I’m excited to get back out there and contribute to the team’s success.”
When asked about what he learned during his time away, Newman reflected on the importance of appreciating what you have. “Leaving the Swans made me realize how much I took for granted. I’m back now, and I’m not taking anything for granted. I’m ready to make the most of this second chance.”
Newman’s return bolsters the Swans’ defense, and fans are eager to see him back in action. His experience and leadership will undoubtedly be valuable assets to the team. As Newman puts it, “I’m home now, and I’m here to stay.”
