Celebrities and vibrant colours abound as Celtic wins the Champions League.
Celtic defeated Slovan Bratislava 5-1 to open the Champions League in a manner that surpassed their greatest triumph during the group stage era.
Liam Scales’ header in the 17th minute gave Brendan Rodgers’ team the confidence they needed to make their mark in Europe’s top competition. Rodgers had said before the game that his team was more prepared than before.
The Scottish champions eventually found their range in the second half, although they ought to have been well out of reach by halftime.
Celtic finished second in the league thanks to goals from Kyogo Furuhashi, Arne Engels, Daizen Maeda, and Adam Idah, a replacement.
Despite having other opportunities outside of Kevin Wimmer’s goal, Celtic’s best chance of winning three points appeared to be against a team that was new to the Champions League at this level.
However, Slovan had won all eight of their qualifying matches, and Celtic’s thunderous performance created a carnival atmosphere among fans who had to wait ten years for a home group-stage victory before witnessing their team upset Feyenoord in a shootout last year.
