Celtic are taking steps to acquire a player valued at £9 million.

Chris Sutton has expressed frustration over Celtic’s current predicament, with both fans and Rodgers voicing concerns about the need to bring in quality reinforcements before the deadline.

There is still time to complete necessary transfers, and one player under consideration is Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels.

Celtic begin negotiations to bring Engels to Glasgow

Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph reports that Celtic have initiated negotiations with the Bundesliga club to secure Engels.

The player is reportedly valued at up to £9 million, but Celtic are well-positioned financially to complete the deal, particularly with the potential £30 million from O’Riley’s sale.

Engels is said to be interested in a move to Glasgow, attracted by the prospect of playing in the Champions League.

Engels is like-for-like to replace O’Riley at Celtic

Engels is not yet as advanced in his development as O’Riley, despite being just 20 years old and having made 52 appearances for Augsburg so far. He is set to play for them at home against Werder Bremen this afternoon.

Although Engels may not yet match the level of the departing Danish star, which is understandable given O’Riley’s £25 million price tag, he is expected to take on a similar role. Engels is an exciting, attack-focused player with a knack for scoring and creating opportunities.

He has also recently been called up to the Belgium national squad and is anticipated to play a significant role for his country in the future. This potential transfer is promising, and hopefully, the club will be able to finalize the deal.
