A subsequent report by ESPN’s Jesse Rogers said the Cubs also have designated infielder Patrick Wisdom for assignment.

Morgan appeared in 32 games for the Guardians in 2024 with a 1.93 ERA, 34 strikeouts and a 3-0 record in 42 innings. Morgan, 28, pitched in Cleveland for the last four seasons, appearing in 161 games with a 3.97 ERA and 262 strikeouts in 265⅓ innings.
Morgan appeared in six games for the Guardians during the 2024 postseason, with six strikeouts and a 2.25 ERA in four innings. But with Emmanuel Clase, Hunter Gaddis, Tim Herrin, Cade Smith and others, the Guardians bullpen remains well-stocked even after the trade.
Who did the Guardians get in return in the Eli Morgan trade?

While playing at the Single-A level throughout 2024, Rosario hit 16 homers to accompany 73 RBI. He also hit 18 doubles, four triples and stole 20 bases. Rosario will need to work on his contact skills, though, as he struck out 147 times in 383 at-bats.
