Coventry City matches could be on free TV next season as fixture diary is turned on head

Coventry City matches could be shown on free-to-air television as soon as next season after an agreement was announced between the EFL, Sky Sports and ITV.A new deal starts in January 2025 and runs until the end of 2026/27. ITV will simulcast five Championship matches in the second half of the 2024/25 season and then 10 games in each of the following two campaigns, as well as the Carabao Cup semi-finals and final next year then ties from every round in the next two seasons.

Laura Woods hosted Coventry's FA Cup quarter-final vs Wolves live on ITV. The channel is now preparing to show live Championship matches too.

ITV is also extending its EFL highlights package. There will be 55 highlights programmes throughout each season, shown on .It comes at a transformational time for televised football outside of the Premier League in England – and the knock-on effect that will have on the fixture diary because so many games will shift from the traditional Saturday afternoon slot.
