The referee, who did not agree with Bell’s assessment that Bell had brought down his man, pointed to the spot.

At the Coventry Building Society Arena, he then stepped up to save the penalty, which turned out to be a pivotal moment in the match that gave City a point.

Recalling the game…

“We did not play with enough energy from the beginning, so earning a point and keeping a clean sheet is a nice accomplishment.

We are aware that we must do better right away. We played really well in the final ten minutes of the match, and I believe we had opportunities to win.

Lately, giving up and saving a penalty

It was never, ever a penalty. After I won the ball and pushed it away, the referee stated that I had entered at that height, therefore my next task is to save it.

He made his choice, and happily I was able to guess correctly and escape with my life.

His feelings and state of mind

To be honest, I was furious, but you have to go on and get ready again; you can not think about it too much.

We did not deserve that, and it was not a penalty, so if it goes in, that is unfortunate, but in the end, I saved it and maintained the clean sheet.

Having to make such choices as a goalie

“Those are the issues a ‘keeper faces; you need to maintain composure and shift your focus back to supporting the team and saving the penalty.”

leading the PDL Under-21 team as captain…

“I enjoy leading the team every time.

I perform the same duties whether or not I wear the armband, but it is good to be the team’s oldest member and to guide the boys—it is a proud moment.
