With his international players returning this week, Mark Robins hopes to give his team more flexibility to attack the nine Championship games that Coventry City still has left, as well as one FA Cup special occasion.
The Sky Blues manager thinks his three players, who have been away representing their nations, should return with a bounce in their step after Haji Wright helped the USA defeat Mexico in the Concacaf Nations League and Joel Latibeaudiere and Kasey Palmer led Jamaica to third place, making them the first Caribbean team to ever place on the podium.
Wright was called up to the national team due to his outstanding club play and an injury sustained by Norwich City striker Josh Sargent. Ellis Simms, another City striker who had some time off during the international break, has also been playing well lately, which should bode well for the rest of the season.

With reference to his internationals, Robins stated, “I look forward to getting them back.” It is excellent for everyone of them. Haji called me to let me know about his call-up, which is fantastic for him. He had an opening, so I advised him to seize it while he was still playing well and with confidence.
Prior to the international break, Ellis Simms and Wright had combined for the winning goal against Wolves. Robins is hopeful that the pair’s recent success will give the rest of the team a lot of confidence, starting with the trip to Huddersfield on Good Friday.
Ellis’s performance (against the Wolves) is also not to be undervalued. To score two goals, that is… He squandered a lot of opportunities in the first half of the game. He was there to score and to miss, but based on his reaction, it appeared that he was slightly blind. However, the two goals he scored were spectacular, and the way he moved to set up Haji for the winning goal was just incredible.
We have been discussing that movement and that set for a time now. Both in him and there it is. He merely needs to do that naturally since it is ingrained in him. All he needs to do is reflect on his method.
But in the end, he is playing for free, and it is one of the main things that might help immensely as a player if you can reach that level.
Milan van Ewijk, who got back to form at Molineux by playing as a right winger higher up the pitch, is another player he feels is playing “free.”
The manager stated, “It was the same for Milan, who I thought played really well and looked a lot more free in his head.” “He was in good positions and put in some really good crosses, but he was unlucky not to take the chance that Sa saved.” There was one instance where he executed it incredibly well for a debut attempt that Sa parried. Ellis would have scored again if a defender had not simply taken it off his head after he put it back in.
But the entire team turned in some outstanding efforts… Josh Eccles, Ben Sheaf, Kasey Palmer during his stint, and Callum O’Hare when he entered the game. When Torpy finished, Kitch, Bobby Thomas, and the bidders placed their crosses. Brad was quite confident in the back and was unable to truly influence the goals.
“Everyone had a fantastic time during the game, and we just need to carry that momentum into the upcoming block of games.”
