Ex-Cowboys Slam Team for Fan Tour “Distraction” During Workouts.

Former Dallas Cowboys players are speaking out against the team’s practice of hosting fan tours and meet-and-greets during workouts, calling it an “unnecessary distraction” that could be holding back player focus and impacting game-day performance.

In recent weeks, fans have been given exclusive access to observe workouts, interact with coaches, and even catch brief chats with star players during training camp hours. While these experiences are marketed as ways to bring the fans closer to the action, some ex-Cowboys are suggesting that it might come at the expense of the team’s overall focus.

“It’s great to have fans, and I know the players love the support,” one former Cowboy shared. “But when you’re there to train, it’s important to have zero distractions. These guys need that mental edge, that complete focus, and having fans in the middle of that breaks up what needs to be a locked-in environment.”

Another ex-Cowboy noted that while the fan-friendly approach can build loyalty and excitement, it’s not something he believes would have been allowed in the Cowboys’ earlier eras. “Back in our time, it was all about discipline during practices. You didn’t even think about who was watching. The only focus was the game, not taking a break to sign autographs or chat with fans,” he commented.
