After Derby County’s 2-1 loss to Watford on Saturday, manager Paul Warne provided an update on the club’s transfer activities. The Rams took an early lead with Ebou Adams’ second-minute volley, but goals from Vakoun Bayo and Moussa Sissoko either side of halftime secured victory for Watford.
Looking ahead, Derby face a midweek trip to AFC Barrow and have the transfer deadline approaching before a weekend clash with Bristol City. Warne struggled with limited options for the Watford game, missing key players such as Josh Vickers, Kane Wilson, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Ben Osborn, and Eiran Cashin.
When asked about the transfer window, Warne expressed hope for reinforcements, stating, “There isn’t anything concrete yet, but I’m optimistic about bringing in another striker, midfielder, and defender, as we clearly need them.” He noted the challenges posed by injuries and the current squad limitations, adding that the team needs additions to strengthen their push up the league.
Regarding injuries, Warne gave updates on Vickers and Osborn. “Josh Vickers had a tight groin and the game came too soon for him; hopefully, he’ll be ready for Tuesday,” he said. “Ben Osborn experienced some calf soreness on Thursday, so he missed training. He won’t be available for the Barrow game but might be fit for the Bristol City match.”
