Herbie Kane has been released by Barnsley shortly after being linked with a transfer to Derby County. Alongside Kane, Nicky Cadden, Robbie Cundy, Devante Cole, and Jordan Williams were also let go. Kane, a key player for Barnsley, contributed significantly with nine goals and five assists as the team reached the play-offs. However, after their defeat to Bolton, his departure was confirmed.

Kane expressed his ambition for promotion, and now Derby aims to strengthen their midfield, especially with Max Bird moving to Bristol City. Devante Cole, Barnsley’s top scorer with 18 goals, is also leaving and is expected to attract multiple offers.

Barnsley’s sporting director, Mladen Sormaz, acknowledged the contributions of the departing players, praising their impact both on and off the field. He assured fans that efforts are underway to bring in new talent to help the club achieve its future objectives.
